Landing in Your Seat - A Guided Grounding Practice for Trauma Therapists
MP3 Recording | Running Time: 25 minutes, 6 seconds
Landing in Your Seat is a professionally produced guided grounding practice created for therapists, counsellors, and mental health professionals who work with trauma, complex trauma, and relationally intense clinical material.
This recording is the Session One guided experience from the Steady in Your Seat supervision circle, a three-session experiential consultation series designed to support therapists in developing more grounded presence, embodied steadiness, and clinical clarity in trauma work.
Who this is for:
In complex trauma therapy, the therapist’s own body and nervous system are part of the clinical field. We may find ourselves feeling pulled into urgency, over-responsibility, self-doubt, fixing, rescuing, overthinking, or the pressure to know exactly what to do next. These responses are not failures — they are often important clinical information.
This guided experience offers a gentle way to pause, return to the body, and reconnect with the therapist seat: the place inside you where your presence, compassion, boundaries, training, intuition, and clinical wisdom can gather.
Somatic, Trauma-Informed, Resourcing:
Using light hypnosis, somatic grounding, mindfulness, gentle progressive release, and earth-based imagery, this practice supports you in feeling the chair beneath you, the ground beneath your feet, and the steadiness available in your own body. The intention is not to go into a deep trance or to leave the room, but to arrive more fully here — in your body, in your breath, in your role, and in the present moment.
This recording may be helpful before client sessions, after emotionally demanding work, between sessions, or whenever you want to reconnect with your own grounded presence as a therapist.
It is especially intended to support therapists in remembering:
- You do not have to be perfectly steady.
- You do not have to know everything immediately.
- You do not have to become everything for your clients.
- You are allowed to pause, return to yourself, and include yourself in the field of care.
From this more grounded place, your presence, clinical clarity, and compassion can become more available.
How this recording fits within the Steady in Your Seat series
Steady in Your Seat is a three-session experiential supervision and consultation circle for trauma therapists. Each session includes a guided somatic and light hypnosis-based practice, followed by reflection and clinical consultation. This first recording begins the series by helping you build the foundation: the capacity to notice when you are being pulled out of your seat and gently return.
Suggested use
For best results, listen in a quiet, comfortable place where you are unlikely to be interrupted. You may wish to use headphones to support a more immersive experience.
Please do not listen while driving, operating machinery, walking outdoors where your full attention is needed, or doing anything that requires alertness and quick response.
This recording is intended as a grounding and reflective resource for therapists. You do not need to have a dramatic experience, relax perfectly, or do it “right.” The invitation is simply to listen, notice, and allow yourself to return to your own ground at your own pace.
