In your own home, you’re more relaxed, more in control, and more open to engaging deeply with the process—creating a powerful foundation for healing and change. 02
How do online hypnotherapy for trauma sessions work?
You can attend sessions from the comfort of your own home using a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a stable Wi-Fi connection. Before your appointment, you’ll receive a link to my secure, encrypted video platform (JaneVideo). With one simple click, you’ll enter a private online waiting room, and I’ll meet you there at your scheduled time. Most clients quickly find that it feels as though we’re sitting together in the same room. Sessions are fully confidential and encrypted for your security. On your end, you’ll be in control of your own comfortable, safe, and private space.
03
Will I have to relive my trauma, and what if I dissociate?
Hypnotherapy is unique because it works not only with your thoughts and memories, but also directly with your body and nervous system—helping to calm hyperarousal and bring you back into balance, especially when combined with somatic therapies such as EMDR and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Unlike some approaches, you don’t need to relive or retell every detail of your trauma for healing to happen. In fact, much of the work focuses on building safety, developing resources, and gently reframing how your mind and body respond to triggers. If you’ve experienced dissociation or disconnection, know that this is a common part of trauma, and I’ll guide you with care if it arises. Over time, hypnotherapy can actually strengthen your ability to stay present, helping you feel more grounded, connected, and safe as you move through your healing journey.
04
How many sessions do I need?
Every person’s needs are different. We begin with a 45-minute assessment to explore your unique concerns, goals, and history, and together we’ll design a personalized plan that works for you. Some clients experience powerful shifts after just a few sessions, while others choose ongoing support to strengthen long-term resilience and balance.
05
Is hypnosis safe? Will I lose control or get stuck?
Yes, hypnosis is completely safe. You cannot get stuck in it and you are completely aware and in control. It’s a natural state of focused awareness—similar to when you’re absorbed in a book, music, or a daydream. You are always in control during hypnotherapy: you can talk, move, or even stop the session at any time. A common myth is that hypnosis is something “done to you,” but in reality it’s a collaborative process where I guide you into a relaxed, receptive state and you remain the one steering your experience. With my 18 years of clinical experience, I ensure sessions are safe, supportive, and empowering so you feel calm and fully in charge throughout.
06
What if I can’t be hypnotized?
Everyone can experience hypnosis in their own way, because it’s simply a natural, focused state of awareness—similar to mindfulness or daydreaming. You don’t have to “try” to do anything perfectly; everyone starts exactly where they are. As your therapist, I’m skilled in helping you discover your own unique inroads into a healing hypnotic state, and we work gently at your pace. Sometimes you may experience a light trance, and at other times the trance may deepen—especially as you become more familiar with the process. Regardless of the depth, every session can bring meaningful benefits. Everyone can learn to relax more, to settle the nervous system, and to strengthen that mindful, focused state—and from there, real change and healing can happen.
07
What does hypnosis feel like?
Most people describe hypnosis as deeply relaxing, yet also very present. Rather than “losing awareness,” you actually feel more aware of the present moment—your focus sharpens, your mind becomes clearer, and everyday distractions fade into the background. It’s a calm, focused state where your body can rest while your inner world opens. Clients often notice that while they feel soothed and grounded, something deeper is happening too—a gentle but powerful healing process. Many people discover new insights, solutions, or perspectives they hadn’t been able to access before. It can feel as though a fresh clarity about how to navigate challenges begins to emerge naturally. Often, the shifts don’t stop when the session ends. Clients describe changes gradually expanding into their daily lives—as if the work done in trance continues to ripple outward. They find themselves moving through the world with more confidence, more ease, and a greater sense of comfort when handling life’s ups and downs.
