Frequently Asked Questions
Is my problem 'big' enough? If it is important enough to cause you any discomfort or distress then yes. I am not here to judge you in any way. No problem is too small.
What will a session be like? Each session will be your forum to discuss what is coming up for you that week, day or even in the here-and-now moment. I will provide a listening ear and will ask you questions to help you focus in on certain issues more closely. Together we will locate and tackle challenges that you face in your day to day life at a pace that is comfortable for you.
How long does it take before I start to feel better? Some people start to feel better after the first session. Just talking to someone can bring a great release of tension and can start you on your journey towards well-being. Depending on the issue or problem you want to address the length of therapy can vary. Some problems can be worked through in as little as 6 sessions. Other problems can be more complicated and require longer term. After our initial session I will give you an idea how long I think we should work on a particular problem. At regular intervals we will have a review to discuss how you think the therapy is going.
Is it confidential? Our sessions will be confidential. At no time will your friends, family or employers be contacted. No one can contact me and request information. I abide by the
UKCP code of ethics and will only break confidentiality if I believe you are at risk of hurting yourself or others. I will discuss this more with you in our initial session.
How long will my appointment last?Appointments are 60 mins. If you schedule an appointment with me that will be your reserved time unless you cancel the appointment in advance. If you are running late I will not leave or see someone else in your reserved time.
How much will it cost?I aim to offer an affordable counselling service that is financially accessible. The fee for each 60 min session depends on your financial circumstances but usually between
$90-$130. The initial assessment session is free. If you need to reschedule a session, I ask that you give 48h notice. If you give 48hours notice I will not charge you. I understand that there may be circumstances out of your control that might prevent you from attending your appointment. If this is so I ask that you contact me as soon as you can so we can discuss it.
How do I get started? You can contact me by e-mail to clear up any more questions you may have and to discuss booking an appointment.

carly_goodfellow@yahoo.caOur intital session will be an introduction session where we both will have an opportunity to ask questions. This will help me determine whether I am the best counsellor for you. If it is the case that I am not, I will give you details of other counsellors that can help you. I always have your needs and care as my highest priority.
I have available times in the day and evenings so we can sort out a time that is suitable for both of us.
